Mustafa Münif Efendi, Hezarî, Münif

Bureaucrat- poet (B. ?, Antakya- D. 1743, Istanbul). His full name is Mustafa Münif Efendi. He used “Hezarî” nickname in Antakya, after he went to Istanbul he listened the advice of Raşit Efendi and used “Münif” nickname. He took his education in Antakya. In 1718, he went to Istanbul, he became a visitor in well-known historian Râşid Efendi’s Palace in Üsküdar, and he took his appreciation and went to Afghanistan with him.  He became an employee next to some government officials. He worked as Mektubiyan-i Sadr-i Azami lieutenant and name keeper of Treasurer Boz Ibrahim Pasha. He received the rank of hacegani (editor) and he had titles such as chamberlain, order keeper, financial biography keeper and Iran ambassador. Besides Turkish, he also wrote poems in Arabic and Persian.

Divan (editing: Sabahattin Küçük, 1999), Fetihnâme-i Belgrad (with Hezâri pen name), Hadîs-i Erbaîn Tercümesi (trans. from Molla Câmî), Mensur ve Manzum Zafernâmeler.
