Ali Kemal Belviranlı

Poet and writer (B. 1923, Konya- D. September 16, 2003, Konya). With the lessons he took from his father and Kadiri Sheikh Ali Efendi, he completed his hafız degree when he was eleven. He grew up with the Islamic Sciences, Arabic and Persian lessons from private lecturers. He completed Konya High School in 1944, Istanbul University Medical School in 1949. When he was student he often met the Islamic Scientists such as; H.Sami Ramazanoğlu, Abdülaziz Bekkine, Kenan Rıfai, Ömer Nasuhi Bilmen, A. Şeref Güzelyazıcı, H. Basri Çantay, men of letters and intellectuals such as; İ. Mahmud Kemal İnal, Eşref Edip, Ebulûlâ Mardin, M. Halil İnanç, Necip Fazıl, Nureddin Topçu, Mahir İz, Osman Turan, artists and musicians such as; Varnalı Hamdi Efendi, Gönenli Mehmed Efendi, Sadeddin Kaynak, true friends such as, Hamid Aytaç, Ömer Kirazoğlu, Sabahattin Zaim.

He published İslâm’ın Nuru (24 Issues) as a monthly magazine with articles and poems of the names above and other significant people. After 1953, he worked as doctor in Konya. During these years, he organised scientific, literal and musical programs with Tahir Büyükkörükçü, Fevzi Özçimi, Lütfi İkiz, Arif Etik ve Hüseyin Arı. In 1961, he established JP Konya Provincial Organization. He worked on Ottoman language and musical studies with the students from Imam Hatip High School and High Islam Institute in Konya. He established Intellectual Ideas Club and organized intellectual and artistic activities. Between 1967 and 73, he went to England relevant to his medical career and stayed in London and Birmingham.  During this period, he worked in Islamic organizations actively and met with many Muslim Intellectuals.

İslâm Prensipleri (1961, The Principles of Islam was translated and published in English, Kur’an Rehberi (Hamid Aytaç’s work, editing 1965), Tecvid (1965), Gümüş Tül ve Alemler (Ali Ulvi Kurucu’s all poetries, editing, 1972), Aruz ve Ahenk, Musiki Rehberi (theoretical knowledge and 40 compositions (many of them are belonging to A.Ulvi Kurucu), 1968), Cönk (Musiki Rehberi’nin cep boyu, 1968), Ölümsüz Müdafaa (translation from Mevlânâ Ebûl-Kelam Âzâd, 1970), Osmanlıca Öğrenme Dizisi (4 books), Seyahat Rehberi (Arabic-English-Turkish).
