Theatre and film actor (b. 1925, İstanbul - d. 05 January 2018, İstanbul). He was born on August 5th, 1925 in Istanbul. After he graduated from İstanbul Erkek  High School , he attended to the Department of Art History and the Department of Economics at Istanbul University. While he was in high school, he went onstage in Halkevi Sahnesi. He began his career as a professional actor with Aşk Köprüsü staged on Ses Theatre in 1948. Later he worked at Küçük Sahne directed by Muhsin Ertuğrul in İstanbul Şehir Tiyatroları (T.N. Istanbul City Theatre).(1958, 59), he worked at Ankara Devlet Tiyatrosu (T.N. Ankara State Theater) (1959-60), and within the community he founded with his friends he worked at Bulvar Theater, Karaca Theatre, Site Theatre and Arena Theatre. He joined the ortaoyuncular community with General’in Aşkı play in Dormen Theatre.

He won the İlhan İskender Award with his performance in Kanlı Nigar in 1968. With the same performance, he took over the symbolic kavuk (T.N. quilted turban) from İsmail Dümbüllü, who had taken it over from Kel Hasan. (Later Münir Özkul passed it to Ferhan Şensoy). With his performance in Sersem Kocanın Kurnaz Karısı (1978) he won the Avni Dilligil (1978), Ulvi Uraz Award (1979), İsmet Kuntay Award (1979) and İsmail Dümbüllü Awards (1980). He celebrated his fortieth year in art life with a jubilee in 1980.

Beginning from 1950, Özkul won fame with his performances of character roles in movies. He acted as İbiş in İbiş’in Rüyası ,which was adopted to cinema from Tarık Buğra’s novel and which was about Naşit Özcan’s life and he acted as Kel Mahmut in Hababam Sınıfı, both of which were unforgettable characters. He won Best Supporting Male Actor in the International Antalya Altın Portakal Film Festival in 1972 with his performance in Sev Kardeşim. He also won an award in Azerbaijan Film Festival in 1977 with Yaşar Usta in Aile Şerefi.
