Writer and translator
(B. 1873, Mecca - d. March 11, 1945, Ankara). He is the younger son of Behçet
Bey, the poet from
His first writing was
one of his homework and was published by Muallim Naci in Saadet newspaper
(1890). His first poem was a lyric he
published when he was twenty years old (August 15, 1891). His poems and
writings were published in Servet-i Fünûn,
İçtihat, Gündüz, Resimli Gazete, Cumhuriyet. He had his original reputation with his
translations from Goethe, G. Flaubert,
Tolstoy, B. Constant. The literature journal Gündüz (1936-39), he published,
was very famous journal among the youth of the era. He didn’t have many poems
and they were not collected in as a book. Hakkı Tarık Us indicated that “he was
a beautiful example of definition and sincerity in our literature.”
