Writer (b. 1886, İstanbul - d. 17 January 1958). He is a famous scientist for his works and teaching. He finished Halab and Manastir Secondary Schools and Vefa High School. He graduated from Mülkiye School (1908). In this year he started as a teacher of literature in Balıkesir High School. He was sent to Switzerland by the government and he studied psychology and pedagogy there (1910- 14). He received his psychology diploma and certificate from the J.J. Rousseau Pedagogy Institute in Geneva.

When he returned İstanbul, he taught psychology and pedagogy at İstanbul School of Teacher Training for Girls. In the same year he became an associate professor at the Faculty of Literature, Department of Pedagogy, which had been newly created. He became a professor (1919) and distinguished professor and worked there for a long time. He gave philosophy of religion lessons at the Faculty of Theology. He retired in 1951.

Mustafa Şekip Tunç, worked a great deal in the field of compilation, translation and text books in psychology. He was elected as a member of the Turkish History Society, the president of the Philosophical Society of Turkey and a member of National Philosophical Society in Belgrade. His articles were published in Dergâh, İnsan, Ağaç, Çığır, Türk Düşüncesi and Cumhuriyet journals and newspapers.

In addition, he published works of translation.
