Poet and writer (b. 1956, Islahiye / Gaziantep). He has used the pen names Abbas, Yahya and Mehmet. He attended primary school in Islahiye and Kahramanmaraş İmam Hatip High School (1973). He graduated from Erzurum Atatürk University, Faculty of Administration (1977). He worked for the National News Agency (1978) for a while and after his military service he worked as a manager in a private accounting firm (1980-89). He became a manager at Al Baraka Finance Corporation in 1989. For two years, he was a member of the Repertoire Committee of the İstanbul Municipal Theatres.

His first four poems, Örtü (Cover), Fanus (Lantern), Namlu Çağı (Gun Era) and Kuşatma (Surrounding) were published in the March 1976 issue of the review Edebiyat, managed by Nuri Paladil. Later on, he published essays and poems in Edebiyat (1976-83), Yedi İklim (also a founder, 1987-89, 1992) and Hece. His later essays attracted a lot of attention. He diversified into writing plays from 1995. He won the Writers Union of Turkey Award in 1991 with Sanat and İntihar (Art and Suicide) and the Kombassan Group Special Award in 2000 with Sıcaktı ve Üşüyorlardı (It Was Hot and They Were Cold). He concentrated on the theatre after 1995. His plays, Bir Gece Bekçisi Daha (One More Night Watchman) and Sandık Odası (The Storeroom), were staged by the İstanbul Municipal Theatres in 1998. He started mountain climbing in 1997 carrying just a backpack and in a short time he had climbed the greatest mountains in Turkey and in 2004 he climbed the Demavend Mountain in Iran and after continued as a licensed, professional climber.

His first book, which features collective impressions of mountaineering, was published by İz Press in 2002, Kayıp Dağcının Düşleri (The Dreams of a Lost Climber). He is a member of the Writers Union of Turkey.
