Writer and translator (b. 1944,
Elbistan / K. Maraş). He attended Elbistan Cumhuriyet Primary School and
Elbistan Elementary School. He graduated from K. Maraş High School (1960),
Swiss Geneva University, Department of French Language and Literature (1965)
and Istanbul Technical University, Department of Architecture (1971). He earned
his PhD at Sorbonne University (1996) and became a professor of urbanism at the
same university (1999). He worked as an independent architecture in Swiss, France
and Turkey. He was the adviser at İstanbul Municipality Projects Department
Directorate.
He published some of his works abroad
and in English and French, some were filmed and taken to the State Theaters
repertoire and performed in private theaters. His plays Nakşidil, Hayat Bir Kere ve Kısacık (Life is Once and too Short) and Karaelmas
(Black Diamond) were not published. The former was taken to the State Theaters
repertoire and the latter was adapted to cinema by Turkish Radio and Television
Corporation in 1996. He won 1987 Ministry of Culture Play Contest Award with Taç ve Taht (The Crown and the Throne).
As well as his copyrighted works, he
was a prolific translator, and translated Küçük
Ağa (Little Agha) of Tarık Buğra (1994) and Türkiye'nin Panoraması (Panorama of Turkey, 1997) into English. He
translated many works of writers into Turkish such as Tolstoy, Balzac, Pierre
Loti, Hector Malot, Alphonse Daudet, F. Sagan, P. Wagner, İsaac B. Singer, M.L.
Fuss, H.Robbins, R. Borniche, Michel de Grece, Pierre Schoendoerffer, Regis
Debray and Clement Lepidis.
