Researcher
of literature (b. 1964, Özdere village / Oltu / Erzurum). He attended primary
school in his village and secondary school in Erzurum. Inspired by his poetry
teachers, he decided to be a literature teacher. He graduated from Atatürk
University, Kazım Karabekir Faculty of Education, Department of Turkish
Language and Literature (1987). He did his graduate studies at Atatürk
University (1989) and doctorate studies at Gazi University (1994). His graduate
thesis was Şeyh Gâlib'in Tarih Manzumeleri
(Poems of History by Şeyh Galib, text study). His doctorate thesis was Nedîm Divanı (Divan* of Nedim, text
study with a critique). In the same year, he became an assistant associate
professor at Yüzüncü Yıl University. He became an associate professor in 1996
and a professor in 2002. He also became Dean of Gaziantep University, Faculty
of Education.
He
interest in poetry continues along with his scientific studies on Divan
literature. His poems have been published in the reviews Yedi İklim, Türk Edebiyatı and Seyir.
He has studied the poems of certain poets who wrote divan poetry “in order to
honor the memories of the masters and to contribute to the re-establishment of
the tradition”. He received the Writers Union of Turkey Critic Award in 1996
with his work Gelenekten Geleceğe
(From Tradition to Future).
