Muharrem Bayar

      Poet and writer (b. 15 January 1945, Bolvadin / Afyon). He attended Bolvadin Akçeşme Primary School (1956) and graduated from Bolvadin High School (1962) and Anadolu University, Faculty of Literature (1966).  He worked as a literature teacher in Diyarbakır, Salihli and Rize. He continued his work as a literature teacher and director in Keçiborlu, Bolvadin. In addition to being a teacher, he worked as a translator of Ottoman Turkish. He is a member of the Aegean Union of Researchers and Writers and the Professional Association of Scientific and Literary Work Owners of Turkey.

He published his articles in the reviews and newspapers Türk Kültürü, Bakış, Beldemiz (Afyon), Yeşil Akşehir, Pervasız. In many places he has held exhibitions featuring handwritten books, collections of handwritten folk poems, imperial edicts and warrants. Along with around 50 other awards he has received, he was given an honorable mention from the Ministry of Culture with his work Vesikalara Göre Türkmen Aşiretlerinin İskânı (Settlement of Turkish Tribes According To Documents) in 1996 and a certificate from the Ministry of National Education with his work Afyon-Bolvadin'de Millî Eğitimin Tarihi (History of National Education in Afyon- Bolvadin) in 1998. He received the 2001 Service to Turkish Folklore Award given by the Folklore Research Center for his studies, the Grand Service Award to Turkish Culture given by the Yuruk Turkmen Associations for his work Karekeçili Yörük Aşiretinin Tarihi ve İskânı (History and Settlement of the Karekeçili Yuruk Tribe). He has presented papers at scientific meetings organized by various university and foundations.  These papers have featured in several publications.
