Journalist-writer. He was born on October 10, 1996 in Ankara. He completed TED Ankara College (1984). He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences, and Department of International Relations. He played basketball at his high school years and even became a national team player.

He continued with his education at Stanford University as part of intercollegiate exchange program for one year. During his university years, he received awards in the contests of Milliyet newspaper. He graduated from university in 1988 and completed his masters’ studies at the Department of International Relations, University of Lancaster, with  thesis named “Cyprus”. He participated to TV reporters’ training at BBC during this period. He completed his doctoral studies at the same university on “Fundamentalist Movements”.

He began with his journalism career in 1990 as foreign news reporter in “32. Gün” program worked as foreign news editor in the same program and continued working at Milliyet newspaper. He has also prepared “Sesli Gazete” program in Best FM (1997-1998). The news program “Pusula” he prepared and hosted was published in Kanal D (1995) and in Star TV (1996). He hosted the program in NTV after 1999.

Mithat Bereket is known with his programs on the Southeastern problem and PKK, war in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Middle Eastern problem and political Islam; and he worked as Foreign News coordinator in NTV. He was the main commentator in some important events. He was in many countries of the world as freelance journalist and war reporter. He conducted interviews with many leaders and statesmen such as Mandela, Bhutto, Qaddafi, Barzani, Talabani, Rabin, Perez and Arafat.
