Film director, writer. He was born in Cankurtaran Village/ Keskin / Kırıkkale in 1953. He graduated from Çorum Imam Hatip High School (1971), Adapazarı High School, İTİA College of Journalism and Public Relations Department of Cinema- Television (1972). He worked as assistant and screenwriter at the companies Sine Film (1973-74) and Burak Film (1974-75), and worked as director and screenwriter at Sur Film (Atlas TV A.Ş. by new name). He directed and also wrote the script of the film Lanet in 1978 with the group of five people that he formed in 1976. In 1987, he took attention with the television series named Kavanozdaki Adam, which was the first science fiction attempt in Turkey and which narrated brain transplant. He made a name for himself with the films Yalnız Değilsiniz (1990), Kelebekler Sonsuza Uçar (1993), Ölümsüz Karanfiller (1995), Anka Kuşu (2007) after adapting Reis Bey from the book of Necip Fazıl Kısakürek in 1988.

Along with his film works, he published film writings and organized special pages for some newspapers and magazines (1973-74). He published the magazine Mutlak Fikir Estetiği ve Sinema, which consisted of six issues, in 1997. He started publishing the film magazine Sonsuzkere in 2003. His first book Türk Sinemasında İdeoloji (1977) has the characteristic of a reference book, in which the Turkish film history was examined closely. He won Director of the Year Award (1981) by Turkish Writers’ Association with his film Rahmet ve Gazap.
