Writer (b. 9 November
1924, Antakya – d. 25 Ağustos 2015, İstanbul ). He attended Antakya High School for Boys and
graduated from İstanbul University, Faculty of Literature, Department of
Turkish Language and Literature. He obtained a certificate from the Department
of French Philology. He worked as a teacher of literature at high schools in
Bitlis and Tekirdağ (1956-63) and as a lecturer and head of the departments of
Turkish at education institutes in Selçuk (1963-64), Balıkesir Necati Bey
(1964-69), Bursa (1969-73) and İstanbul Atatürk (1974-83). He continued with
his studies as the editor and editorial writer of the review Türk Dili
Dergisi, beginning in 1987.
His first article “Arkadaşlık-Friendship”
was published in the newspaper Atayolu in Antakya on 21 April 1944. He
continued writing articles and poems in the newspaper with the pen name Nevzat
Ovalı until 1948. Besides this, he published his poems and articles in the
reviews Varlık (1951), Yula (1957) and in Gökçeyazın (owner,
editorial director, 1964, 10 issues) in İskenderun and in Alkım (Bursa),
Cumhuriyet (1978) and Türk Dili Dergisi (1987-). In 1964, he
collected the Turkish Language Association Award. He was held for questioning
by the Ministry of National Education for the review Gökçeyazın that he
published. He is a member of the Writers Syndicate of Turkey and the Language
Society of Turkey.
