Professional billiards
player, world billiards champion. He was born on November 12th, 1964
in Adapazarı. He is recognized with nicknames as Mr. Magic and Turkish Prince.
His father died in a traffic accident when he was 14 years old. He began to
play billiards when he was 16 years old. He attended and won the Championship
of Istanbul when he was 17 years old, by his friend Tezcan’s conviction. Later
he showed himself in the international arena. He ranked ninth in 1991 German
Open and 1991 İstanbul Efes Pilsen Grand Prix and he ranked eighth in the world,
when he defeated the world champion Ceulemans with a 3-0 score.
Saygıner was transferred
to the Netherlands Teams League known as the most important league of the
billiards in 1994. He ranked first in the World Billiards Championship (3-band)
held in Antalya, Kemer in 1998 by defeating the Dutch Cerwin Walentijn in the
final. He became the champion by defeating the Greek team in the final with
Tayfun Taşdemir in the World Billiards Team Championship held in
Monchengladbach, Germany in 2003. Saygıner, who became the champion for 25
times in Turkey Grand prix, became the champion for 14 times in 3 bands. He
became the Turkey champion for 10 times in cannon and he became the Turkish
champion once in both Cadre 47/2 and single band.
Saygıner was awarded
with the sportsman of the year award from various places and he was elected as
the Best Billiard Player of the Year in Antwerp on February 7th, 2004,
in Belgium, in 2003. The player, who was the 8th in the world
players list of UMB (Union Mondiale de Billard) in 2006, was the captain of
F.C. Porto Billiards Team for 3 years in the Portugal League. He won a bronze
medal in 2005 with his team F.C. Porto in European Clubs championship. He won
the silver medal in 2006 European Championships and at the same year, he
received a second place in the European Club Championships.
