Sedat Alp has
several discoveries and inventions in the branches of Hittitology. His works on
Hittitology were published in several languages. He was the head of Konya
Karahöyük excavations since 1953. He became a member of Turkish History
Institution in 1946; and after conducting several duties at the institution,
also was the last president of it before it was shut down (1982-1983). He
received the Commendatore Order from Italian President (1957), Order of Merit
from Federal Germany President (1972), medallion of Paris College de France
(1980), starred Order of Merit from Federal
