Journalist, writer. He was born in 1928 in Istanbul, he is dead 10 October 2021, Istanbul. He used the signature of “Sam Cohen” in the media organs outside Turkey. He is the son of the journalist Albert Kohen. He started his higher education in the Institute of Journalism and finished it in the University of Pennsylvania in USA. He worked as a commentator of foreign politics in the newspapers İstanbul and Ekspres. The newspaper La Boz de Türkiye (The Voice of Turkey), which published by his father in the languages of Ladino and French in the years of 1939-49, was published by him in Turkish with firstly the name of Türkiye’nin Sesi, and then with the name of Haftanın Sesi after the death of his father
Sami Kohen, who is especially known with his
columns about the topic of foreign politics, worked permanently as a columnist
in the newspaper Milliyet since the
year 1955. His articles also took place in the newspapers Christian Science
Monitor and New York Times
in the USA.
