Diplomat, bureaucrat,
undersecretary, minister. He was born on january 30, 1956 in Gorele, Giresun.
His full name is Feridun Hadi Sinirlioğlu. He graduated from Ankara University,
Faculty of Political Sciences, and Department of International Relations. He
completed his master’s and doctoral studies at Bogazici University
Administrative Sciences faculty; Department of Political Science and
International Relations. He started to work as a probationary officer in
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Personnel Office in 1982. He worked at Multilateral
Cultural Affairs Office as probationary officer in 1982. He left his job due to
compulsory military service. He was appointed as Probationary Officer in Multilateral
Cultural Affairs Office and Third Clerk in 1983 and Second Clerk and Head Clerk
in La Hague Embassy in 1985. During the Civil war in Lebanon,
he was the Head Clerk in Beirut
(1988), Head Clerk in Greece Office (1990), Bilateral Political Affairs vice under
secretariat Head Clerk (1990), Consultant to Undersecretary in 1991 and to the
Prime Minister in 1992 and as Undersecretary of TURKUNO Permanent
Representation in 1992.
After several
diplomatic missions, he was the Foreign Affairs Head Consultant for the 9th
President Süleyman Demirel between September 2, 1996 and September 15, 2000. He
worked as Vice General Director responsible from Middle East and North Africa between the dates September 15, 2000- July
1, 2002 and as Tel Aviv Ambassador between the dates July 1, 2002- January 15,
2007. He worked as Vice Undersecretary of Bilateral Political Affairs between
the dates January 24, 2007- August 21, 2009. He became the Undersecretary of Foreign
Affairs, replacing Ertuğrul Apakan. Sinirlioğlu is known as one of the
diplomats in Foreign Affairs Ministry "with the longest period of
undersecretary" who performed this duty from August 21, 2009 onwards. He
was the Foreign Affairs Minister of the election government (63rd government).
He is married to Ambassador Ayşe Sinirlioğlu and father of two children. He
speaks advanced English and German.
