Journalist and writer (b. 24 July 1950, İzmir). He attended İzmir İmam Hatip High School and graduated from İzmir High Islamic Institute (Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Theology) (1973). He did his graduate studies at Harvard University in the United States (1982) and research at the International Center for Research (1980-82). He worked as an editor at the Akyanak Publishing House (1976-80), as Undersecretary of the Treasury and Foreign Trade (1985) and as an advisor to the President of the Department for Cooperation among the Islamic Countries at the State Planning Organization (1985-86). He studied journalism at City University in London and Arabic at the Darü’s Selam School of Foreign Languages in Damascus.
He worked
as a columnist on the newspapers Millî
Gazete (1984) and Zaman from 1986
to 97 (head of the editorial department, 1986-97). Since 1997, he has been
writing articles for the newspaper Yeni
Şafak. He received the Press Management Award from the Writers Union of
Turkey in 1986 due to his successful management of the newspaper Zaman. He is a member of the Association
of the Parliament Correspondents and the Association of Harvard Graduates.
