Writer (b. 1863, Selanik / Ottoman Empire (Thessalonica / Greece) - d.
1932, İstanbul). He attended primary and secondary schools in Thessalonica. He
served as a teacher for a while then he published the newspaper Asır (1896,
later on Yeni Asır), He became publishing director when he came to
İstanbul (1909). When he was dismissed from this job, he worked at the Tobacco
Corporation. Fazlı Necip, who took part in the activities of the Union and the
Progress Party, published the review Türk Hayatı (1925) after the
foundation of Turkish Republic. Apart from his career as journalist and
novelist, he published over 40 compilation and translation works on history and
geography.
