Playwright (b. 10 October 1950, Çalbaşı-Minoz village /
Kavak / Samsun). He attended primary school in the villages Çalbaşı and
Çakallı. He is a graduate of İstanbul İstanbul High Teacher Training School’s
Preparatory High School and from İstanbul University, Faculty of Sciences and
Literature, Department of Chemistry and Physics. After working as a teacher of
physics in the city of Samsun and in its towns and as the Administrator of
Samsun Culture and Tourism City Headquarters (1985-90), he passed to the
Ministry of Culture and served as the Assistant General Manager of Copyrights
and Cinema (1990-93) and Dushanbe (Tajikistan) cultural consultant (1993-96).
Later, he pursued his job at the same ministry as an expert of Research,
Planning and Coordination and the Assistant General Manager of General Directorate of Folk
Culture Research and Development.
His
play Taş Bademleri (Stone Almonds),
which was staged by İstanbul Municipal City Theatres and the State Theatre, was
translated into Tajik and Russian. He received honorary mention from the review
Töre-Devlet with his work Büyük Köprü (The Grand Bridge) and the first
rank at the Ministry of Culture Awards with his work Taş Bademleri (Stone Almonds). He also won the Turkish Literature
Foundation’s Necip Fazıl Scenario Competition Jury’s Special Award with his
work Güzellik Ölmez (Beauty Never
Dies). He is a member of the Foundation of Unity in Democracy.
