Poet and writer (b. 1 December 1918, İstanbul
– d. 9 December 2002, İstanbul). He attended the Saint Joseph Elementary School
(boarding), the Saint Joseph Private French High School (1928), and graduated
from İstanbul University, Faculty of Literature, Department of French Philology
(1942). He worked as a teacher of French at the Pertevniyal High School
(1944-49), and gave private courses of French. He also worked as a translator
in newspapers, encyclopedias and private companies.
His first poem (Tahta At - The Wooden
Horse) was published in the review Gündüz (1936). After 1943, he
published his poems and short stories in the review Varlık. He shared
the 1969 Fait Faik Prize for Story with Orhan Kemal, with his book Sancı
Meydanı (The Square of Ache). He was elected as the storywriter of the year
in 1984 by the review İnanç. His book Kavanozdaki Adam (The Man
in the Jar) was filmed in a television series in five episodes, and was
broadcast on the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation in 1988.
