Poet (b. 22 May 1941,
Artvin). His full name is Mustafa Mazhar Alphan. He attended the Haydarpaşa
High School, and graduated from Karl Franzens University in Austria (1968). His
master thesis was "AT ile Türkiye
Arasındaki Anlaşmanın İktisadi ve Hukuksal Yönden Analizi" (Economical
and Judicial Analysis of the Agreement between the EC and Turkey). He worked as
an assistant at İstanbul Technical University, Faculty of Machine (1969-71).
After working at the Educational Department and Inspection Board of the İş
Bank, he was retired in 1994. He founded and directed the Sürgün Publishing
House. He is a member of the Turkish Authors Association and the Writers’s
Syndicate of Turkey.
His first poem "Son
Çağrı" (The Last Call) was published in 1992 in the review Damar.
His later poems and essays appeared in Damar, Pir Sultan Abdal, Abece,
Karşı, Yeni Biçem, Düşlem, Çağdaş Türk Dili, Türk Dili Dergisi, Promete, Kıyı,
Yaklaşım, Dize, Ardıçkuşu, İnsalcıl, Eski, Güzel Sanatlar, Berfin Bahar,
Evrensel, Şiir Ülkesi, Tay, Ünlem, Agora, Edebiyat Koop., Dünya Kitap, and
the poetical yearbooks 1995/97 Adam Sanat Şiir Yıllığı, 1998 Şiir
Coğrafyamız, 2002 E Dergisi, 2003 Agora, 2004 Yom Şiir. His dossier of
poems was praised at the Ceyhun Atuf Kansu Poetry Contest in 1995. In 2002, he received
the achievement award at the poetical contest held after the name of Mehmet
Başaran, with his book Yaşam Yankılandığı Yerden Sürer (Life Continues
from Where It Echoes) and ranked second at the 40th free poetry contest organized
in the 14th International Hacıbektaş Free Poetry Contest.
