Poet and author. He was born in
Karaisalı, Incirgediği village on January 15, 1944 (became a part of Tarsus in 1994). His real
name is Mehmet Demirel, and he used M. Demirel Babacanoğlu pseudonym in his
works. He completed Duziçi
School in 1965 and
Anadolu University Upper Secondary Education. He worked as a teacher between
the years 1965-1996 and retired from Adana-Toros
Primary School. He began
with poetry career by reading Karacaoğlan. He worked as the art director of
newspapers named Yeni Adana and Hürsöz and journals names Güney and Klas. He published the "Aykırısanat" journal between 1992 and 2008. His work is still being published in several newspapers
and journals. Babacanoglu resides in Adana.
He is married to Mrs. Şenel and has four children named Cankat, Tuzel, Remzi

Yaşam Sanat. The journal named Aykırısanat that he started to publish in
August 1992 has continued until December 2007 (87 issues). His play named Dört
Oyun was put on stage in Ankara, Izmir and Anamur. His
poem named “Karacaoğlan’dır” was composed by
composer Mesut Eray in May 2013.
One of his poems called
“Aklı Kara" awarded in
Kadirli-Heybe Journal in 1990. Another one of them “Sen Bu Türküleri Neden Söylüyorsun" was awarded in Turkey- Balikesir
in 1992. His poetry book named "Karanfil
Kırmızıların Soldu mu" got award in Sweden-Stockholm Humanistic
International Poetry and in 2002 story named "Derin Duygular" was awarded at Adana Literature Association. His 50th anniversary in art was celebrated in Adana on May 7, 2013. He has also received around fifty and sixty certificate of
appreciation and plaques for participating in art and culture activities. He is
the member of Çukurova Literature Association (1998-2002/2005-2007 he was an
executive), Association of Men of Letters, New Generation Village Institutes
Association and Adana Life and Art Association.
