Kürşat Başar

Writer. He was born at Istanbul in 1963. He received his education in Istanbul, Ankara, Nicosia and Doğubeyazıt. He graduated from Istanbul University, Department of Philosophy (1985). He worked at Hürriyet and Güneş newspapers (1981). He worked as an editor in Aktüel magazine and as the chief editor in Tempo magazine. He published Power magazine. He was the editor of several magazines. He prepared the program named “The Jazz Feeling” which was aired in TRT 3 (1983-1989). He worked as consultant and host of the TRT program “Akşama Doğru” (1989-1991). He prepared and hosted the weekly news program “Tempo” at Kanal 6. (1992). He wrote columns in Yeni Yüzyıl newspaper and worked as a commentator at a radio.

His articles, interviews, news and essays were published in several journals and newspapers since 1981. He used the Baran Orgun pseudonym for his first story published in H. Gösteri journal (1985). He published his articles on art in Hürriyet Gösteri, Hürriyet Müzik, Defter journals since 1982. He managed the art pages of Güneş newspaper (1989-1991). He received 1989 Haldun Taner Story Award with his first book Kış İkindisinin Evinde (1988).
