Poet (B. September 24, 1936,
Yeşilyuva village / Acıpayam – D. September 11, 2004). Poet and Head Teacher
Mufti Halil Nigari and Teacher Kerim Effendi were his grandfathers; Retired
Governor Muzaffer Erdem is his brother. He graduated from Denizli High School
and Ankara University Political Sciences Faculty and Press School Expertise
Department. He started to work in TRT as text-writer and producer (1964), and
he worked as chief producer (1965), Ankara Radio Training and learning
Publications Branch Director (1966), TV Office President (1982), Vice General
Manager (1978-1979) and as TRT General Director (1989-1993).
His first work, a story was
published in Kağnı journal (Bolu) in
1956. In the following years, his poems were published in journals such as Varlık,
Türk Yurdu, Çağrı, Millî Kültür, Yelken, Meltem, Türk Edebiyatı, Türk Dili,
Hisar, Türk Düşüncesi, Ilgaz. His
three musical plays and around ten poems were composed. He received TDK Most
Successful Ataturk Poem Award and Müzik-San Foundation Poet of the Year Award
(1981) and FAK Folklorist of the Year Award (1986).
