Stage director, actor, and writer. He was born in Malatya in January
1st, 1947. He began stage acting as an amateur in Malatya Community Center. In
1963, he became professional actor in Ankara Meydan Stage when he was a high
school student. He graduated from Gazi University Public Administration
Department. In 1972, he attended to the exams externally and was accepted to
State’s Theatre. He played in Ankara
Halk Actors, TTU (Turkish Teacher Union) Theatre and Ankara Union Stages. In
1973, he established Stage 73 Group. He staged plays in Bursa State Theatre. In
1978, besides his actor title he also worked as director in Ankara State
Theatre. In 1988, he went to USA as a guest. He made researches on theatre in
USA and Germany. After his return to homeland, he worked as General Art
Director in Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality City Theatres between 1996-99
years. He was assigned as director to Istanbul State Theatre. In 2002, he
played in the movie Yeşil Işık (Green Light) and in television series. He once
said “Today’s theatre must shock viewer and excite the feeling of renewal” and
Işık believes that it will become real by “political relation and harmonious
union of aesthetical creation” in theatre.
He received Best Play Award of Ministry of Culture with Baby Sleep and
Non-existed Woman, received Best
Director Award from Ministry of Culture twice, Best Director Award from Script
Writers Association, Mansion in TGNA Child Plays Contest, Critics Union award
with “Ivan Ivanovich was Exist or Not?”,
Jury Special Award in Macedonia Festival, Ulvi Uraz Praiseworthy Actor
Award, Ismat Küntay Best Writer Award,
International Lions 118- Turkey Administrative Environment Art Award, Bakırköy
Ministry Play Adaptation Contest Merit Pay, Avni Dilligil Best Director Award,
Türkish Writers Union Novel Adaptation Awad.
Also, he received 2000 Hürriyet Kelebek Award, 2000 Rotarian
communicator of the Year Award, Ankara TV Journalists Association Award,
Magazine Journalists Association Award, Selçuk University Communication Award,
Istanbul University Communication Award, Aydın Doğan Anatolian Vocational High
School Communication Award.
