Poet and writer (b. 1944, Erzurum - d. 30 November 2018, Istanbul). He has also
written under the pen names Fikret Kaynakçı and Sıtkı Sipahioğlu. He attended
İzmir Necatibey Primary School (1956) and Namık Kemal High School (1965). He
discontinued his studies at İstanbul University, Faculty of Literature,
Department of Turkish Language and Literature and after worked in various jobs.
He was a redactor at the newspaper Cumhuriyet
for a long time. He is still working as the book section editor at the
newspaper Sabah.
His poems, which
are considered “Second New”, have been published in newspapers and reviews such
as Ege Ekspres (İzmir, 1962), Evrim (1962-64, 24 issues), which he
published with his friends, Alan 67
(publisher, 4 issues, 1967), Yeni A
(on the administration, 1972) and in Soyut,
Şiir Sanatı, Papirüs etc. He won the 1979 Yeditepe Poetry Award with his
book Çırak Aranıyor (Apprentice
Wanted) and the 1983 Necatigil Poetry Award with Nereye Uçar Gökyüzü (Where Does the Sky Fly?).
