Storywriter and novelist (b. 1935, Yıldızeli / Sivas - d. 6 May 2006, İstanbul). He attended the Tokat High School (1953) and graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Law (1969). He worked in American News Center (1958), Turkish Language Association (1969) and Sinematic Association’s Ankara Agency. After founding and managing the Sergi Publishing House, he worked as an administrator at Cem Publications. He later managed Can Yayınları which he founded in 1980.
He entered the world of literature with his poem published in the magazine Kaynak (1952). Then he gave up poetry and wrote short stories, novels and criticisms. He chose the current political issues and events for his criticisms. He won the Orhan Kemal Novel Award with his book Yaralısın (You are Wounded) which brought him great fame and the Saik Faik Short Story Award with Sular Ne Güzelse (If the Water is so Beautiful).

He also has books of children’s literature.
