Poet and writer (b. 28 June 1952, Eskişehir). He is the son of the solider and politician Muhsin Batur. He completed his secondary education in Ankara and İstanbul and began his higher education at the Middle East Technical University and graduated from Sorbonne University in Paris (1973).  He worked at Milliyet Publishing for some time and was also a manager at Yapı Kredi Publications.

Since 1970 his poems, essays and critiques have been published in the newspaper Ulus and in the journals Yeni Dergi, Türk Dili, Soyut, Somut, Yazı (publisher, 1978-80), Oluşum (director, 1980), Çağdaş Eleştiri and Gergedan (director, 1987). He won the Turkish Language Association 1980 Essay Award with his book Şiir ve İdeoloji (Poem and Ideology).  He has worked as an editor at Yapı Kredi Publications.
