Wife of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the 27th Prime Minister of Turkish Republic., writer She was born on the 21st of
February 1955 in Istanbul. She is the youngest child of a family with five children,
which came from Siirt to Istanbul. She went to Mithat Paşa Evening Arts School
but left it before graduating. After meeting the author Şule Yüksel Şenler who
was one of the pioneers of modern scarf in Turkey she actively worked in
Association of Idealistic Women founded by Şenler.
Emine Erdoğan met Recep Tayyip Erdoğan
during her activities in Association of Idealistic Women. They married on the 4th
of July 1978. The couple has four children with following names: Ahmet Burak,
Necmettin Bilal, Esra and Sümeyye.
Emine Erdoğan actively contributed to
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s works who has been Prime Minister since 2002. During her
years in Ankara she joined social activities like she did in Istanbul and
contributed to cultural and artistic activities and social aid works. She is
known as a devoted and beneficent person. For the first time in the history of
republic a woman with scarf was the wife of prime minister. This ended the
humiliation of religious women, which lasted for long years. Detailed
