Writer and editor (b. 1912, Güneyköy / Afyon - d. 7 November 1988,
İstanbul). He used the name of Osman Nebi, too. His father was the merchant
Mehmet Efendi. He went to İzmir in 1921 because his father transferred his work
there. He started his high school education at İzmir Atatürk High School and
finished at İstanbul Işık High School. After graduating from İstanbul
University Faculty of Law (1936), he studied at Berlin and Gottingen
Universities and became a doctor of economics (1940). In the same year he
returned to his homeland and became a sociology assistant at İstanbul
University, Faculty of Economics. In Ankara he became the Head of the
Propaganda Department of the General Directorate of Press and Broadcasting. He
entered the world of publishing in 1943 and founded Nebioğlu Publication House.
When he was a high school student, his works were
published in the newspapers and magazines of Ahenk, Hizmet (İzmir), Halkın
Sesi, Fikirler, Çiçek, etc. In the following years his essays, stories and
research were published in the newspapers Ulus,
Tasvir-i Efkâr and Cumhuriyet. He introduced new
innovations to the world of publication and published the newspapers Nebioğlu Takvimi, Haftalık Yirminci Asır,
Bütün Dünya (monthly), Resimli Roman
(fortnightly), Arkadaş (a magazine
for children) and Anahtar (a humorous
paper). He was a member of many associations and he spoke German, Arabic,
English and French and traveled to many countries in Europe, the Americas and
Asia.
