Poet (B. August 23,
1894, Istanbul- D. January 17, 1957). He was graduated from Galatasaray High
School and Paris Higher Agricultural School (1914). When he came back to
Istanbul, he worked in various jobs, afterwards, he worked as a French teacher
in various schools (1922-55). Ayel won the first prize in a poem contest in
France in 1938, wrote Turkish and French poems.
He was considered as one
of the pioneers of new-classicism in his era with his poems written in aruz
prosody and also he took attention with his efforts about implementing Western verses
in to Turkish poems. Ayel also has two poem books in which he collected his
French poems.
