Chemical engineer, businessman, CEO of Eczacıbaşı Holding. He was born in 1949 in Istanbul. He is the son of Ferit Nejat Eczacıbaşı, the founder of Eczacıbaşı Holding. After he graduated from Istanbul German High School, he attended his higher education in Imperial College of Science and Technology in London, and he got his master’s degree in chemical engineering in Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the USA.

He entered business life at Eczacıbaşı Holding in 1974, and has held different management positions in the corporation. He served as the president of the Turkish Industrialists & Businessmen Association (TÜSIAD) between 1991 and 1993, as the president of the High Advisory Board of TÜSIAD between 1997-2001, as the founding chairman of the Board of Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation (TESEV) between 1993 and 1997, and as the chairman of the Turkish Employers’ Union of Pharmaceutical Industry between 2000 and 2008.

Still the CEO of Eczacıbaşı Holding, Bülent Eczacıbaşı is the honorary president of TUSIAD and the Turkish Employers’ Union of Pharmaceutical Industry, the president of the Board of Trustees of Istanbul Modern Art Foundation which also encompasses Istanbul Museum of Modern Art, the president of the Board of Directors of İKSV (Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts), a member of the Supreme Advisory Board of TESEV and the European Round Table of Industrialists (ERT).

Bülent Eczacıbaşı, who still actively works in the International Advisory Board of Akbank, in the Supreme Advisory Board of TESEV and in Istanbul Museum of Art, is married with two children.
