Poet (b. 24 July 1934, İstanbul – d. 23 Nisan 2012, İstanbul). He
attended Tavşanlı Primary School, and graduated from Uşak High School (1955)
and Istanbul School of Publishing (1956). He attended Konya Kuleli Military
High School (1946-1948), but he was expelled because of not being successful.
After working as street vendor, teacher and clerk of Post,
Telegraph, and Telephone Office, warehouse and steelyard for a while
(1957-1960), he served as the vice-director in the Asmaaltı and Beyazıt
Branches of Yapı Kredi Bank for long years (1960-72).
He founded Gürkal Publications. He retired after serving as manager in a
private company (1980). After his retirement, he ran a book-stationary store.
He directed Gerçek Sanat Publications. Because of his writings, he was
investigated; it was concluded with lack of pursued (1971). Again because of
his writings, he was sent to the court, but was acquitted (1987). He is a
member of Language Society, the Turkish Authors Association, Writers Syndicate
of Turkey and the Party of Labor (Founder and Executive Committee).
His first poem was published in a local review Türkeli (20
June 1952), his first poem for children was published in the review Küçük Galatasaraylı (March 1953). His
poems and articles were published in the reviews Yeditepe, Türk Düşüncesi, Onüç, Yankı, May, Türk Dili, Kıyı,
Kırkmerdiven, İnsancıl, Yaba Edebiyat, Şiir-Öykü, Doğuş, Ardıçkuşu, Gerçek
Sanat, Evrensel Kültür and Gelecek
which he published with A. Kadir, Rıfat Ilgaz (1971) and in the newspaper Evrensel (as column writer). He served
as editor-in-chief of the reviews Durum (1959),
Gelecek (1971), Gerçek Sanat (1986) and weekly newspaper Kasımpaşa (1969). He published an one-paged art newspaper named Göz which has two issues. (1969)
