Short-story writer and painter (b. 4
May 1946, İstanbul). She graduated from Ankara Yenimahalle High School for
Girls (1964). She started to study at Hacettepe University, Faculty of Medicine
and graduated from Atatürk University, Faculty of Medicine (1971). She worked
as a physician in Trabzon, Ankara, Adana, İzmir, Almanya and İstanbul. When she
retired in 1999, she was a manager at the İstanbul Cancer Information
Consultation Center, of which she was the founder.
Apart from her
articles on medicine, her literary works have been published in the reviews Gözgü, Ankara Sanat, Bay (Prizren), Kıyı, Türk Dili, E Dergisi, Damar,
Kadınların Dünyası, Cumhuriyet Kitap, Güzel Yazılar and in the newspapers Cumhuriyet, Hürriyet, Evrensel, Birlik
(Macedonia), etc. She came second at the 1993 Ömer Seyfettin Short Story Award
and she won the 1994 Ömer Seyfettin Short Story Special Award with Kaçış Düşleri (Dreams of Escape) and the
1998 Yunus Nadi Short Story Award with Sıradan
Öyküler (Ordinary Stories). Moreover, she has held many watercolor and oil
painting exhibitions in Ankara, İstanbul and Bursa.
