Poet, investigative writer. He was born in
Akkışla, Kayseri,
on December 20, 1954. His full name is Abdullah Çağrı Elgün. He and his family
moved to Kayseri
in 1960s as his father was a civil servant and appointed there. He went to Kayseri Atatürk
Primary School, Fevzi
Çakmak Secondary
School and Kayseri
High School. He graduated from Ankara Gazi
University, Faculty of
Education. He completed his master’s degree in Kayseri Erciyes
University and Gazi
University Social Sciences institutes.
Çağrı Elgün served as a civil servant in Student
Affairs and Evaluation branches in General Directorate of Health Education
under Ministry of Health and a Turkish Language and Literature teacher in Ankara Keçiören
Environmental Health
Vocational School. He worked
as a civil servant in Kayseri Province Directorate of Health, Assessment of
Assignments and Appointments and Head of General Management. He worked as a
teacher, vice principle and deputy principle in Kayseri Vocational School of
Health. He worked as a lecturer in Oriental Languages department in Kazakhstan Abay State University, where he had gone on duty.
He lectured on Turkish Language in Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine, Kayseri
Vocational School of Higher Education and Safiye Çıkrıkçıoğlu Vocational School
of Higher Education. He worked as a teacher, vice principle and principle in
Kayseri Medicinal Education Institution, and Materials Bookkeeper in Kayseri
Kocasinan Group Prisdency. He worked as an educational specialist in Ministry
of Health central organization.
He led publication of magazines in some places
and regions he worked, and acted as a chief editor. Some magazines and
newspapers such as Erciyes, Gülpınar, Hakses, Doğuş Edebiyat, Küçük Dergi,
Çınar, Töre, Yeşilay, Yeniden Diriliş, Kayseri
Kültür Ocağı, Türk Ocağı, Aydınlar Ocağı, Türk Yurdu, Türk Edebiyatı, Türk
Dünyası Tarih, Artı Eğitim, Orkun, Kurultay
published his poems and articles. He worked as a columnist in Kayseri Hakimiyet, Kayseri
Haber, Anadolu Haber newspapers for several years and wrote in vocational
magazines and bulletins. He prepared and presented programs in local TV
stations in Kayseri.
Erciyes TV aired his twenty-six-episode TV series named "Ata Yurdunda
Gezinti" and Show TV aired his nine-episode TV series, "Eşekli
Kütüphane".
He is a member of Sağlık-Sen (Union of Health
Care Workers), Writers Union of Turkey, İLESAM, Intellectuals Hearths, Turkish
Hearths, and he undertook voluntary duties in many associations and
foundations. Additionally, Çağrı Engün, interested in photography and Martial
Arts, exercised in these areas, too. He was granted awards, certificates of
appreciation and participation from Ministry of Health, Ministry of Youth and
Sports, and many local and international universities, foundations and
magazines.
