Researcher,
writer and lecturer (b. 2 March 1964, Kuşu town / Simav / Kütahya). He
completed his primary education in Kuşu (1974), his secondary education in the
Demirci district of Manisa (1980). He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty
of Language, History and Geography, Department of Turkish Language and
Literature (1985). He became an assistant and completed his master (1988) and
doctorate (1995) studies in the same department. The subject of his master
thesis was "Tanzimat'tan Fuat Köprülü'ye Kadar Bizde Edebiyat
Tarihçiliği" (The Historiography of Literature from Tanzimat* to Fuat
Köprülü in Turkey, Ankara University, Institute of Social Sciences,
Ankara, 1988); the subject of his doctorate thesis, which he studied under the
supervision of Prof. Dr. Olcay Önertoy was "Behçet Necatigil,
Hayatı-Sanatı ve Eserleri" (The Life, Art and Works of Behçet
Necatigil, Ankara University, Institute of Social Sciences, Ankara,
1995). He was promoted to assistant professorship in 1997 at the same
department. He was assigned to give lectures on Turkish language and literature
at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at London University in a
program called “Mustafa Kemal Atatürk Fellowship” in 1998. His duty here was
terminated in 2000; however, he was re-assigned to the same university (London
University) as a guest lecturer. He was appointed to Ankara University, Faculty
of Language, History and Geography, Department of Turkish Language and
Literature in March, 2000.
His
essays on new Turkish literature were published in the reviews A.Ü. Dil ve
