Poet (b. 21 June 1947, Karabük). He
attended Heybeliada Primary School, Heybeliada Hüseyin Rahmi Gürpınar High
School (1965) and graduated from İstanbul University, Faculty of Literature,
Department of Geography (1970). He lived in Filyos (Hisarönü), Başverencuma,
Amasra, Yalova, Kemerburgaz, Heybeliada, Burgazada, Çorlu, Wisbech, London and
Kadıköy. He worked in different private organizations as a personnel chief and
then he retired. When he was a student he worked in factories and in 1969-1970
he worked in restaurants in the United Kingdom and in agriculture. He arranged
an open-air poetry exhibition in Kadıköy. He is a member of Writers Syndicate
of Turkey.
His first poem “Çağrı” (Call) was published in the newspaper Hız
(Ankara 1 June 1975) and his subsequent poems have been published in reviews
such as Sek, Ozanca, Saçak, Türkiye Yazıları, Hakimiyet Sanat, Edebiyat
Cephesi, Oluşum, Varlık, Somut, Dönemeç, Poem for life, Karşı Kıyı, Olma;
his articles have appeared in the newspaper Cumhuriyet. He won the Yunus
Nadi Poetry Award in 1993 with his work Kadınlar Geceleri Severler, Geceleri
Güzel Bakarlar (Women Love the Nights, They Look Pretty at Night)
