Poet, researcher on Ottoman cultural history. He was born on May 13, 1955 in Istanbul. he graduated from Istanbul Imam Hatip High School, Eyüp High School (1974), Istanbul Higher Institute of Islam (1978) and Istanbul University Faculty of Literature, Department of Philosophy (1982). He completed his masters’ education in history. He worked as a librarian at Marmara University Central Library (1979-1985). He started to work as a research assistant at Marmara University, Faculty of Sciences and Letters in 1986. His masters’ thesis was titled Anonim Tevarih-i Al-i Osman and his doctoral thesis was about II. Murad Devri Kültür Hayatı (1996). He continued his studies as a lecturer at Marmara University Faculty of Literature Department of History, as a review redaction committee member in Türkiye Diyanet Vakfı İslâm Ansiklopedisi. He is a member of Writers Union of Turkey.

His first poems were published in Yeni Sanat journal from 1973 onwards. His essays, critics and poems were published in several journals and newspapers such as Düşünce, Yeni Sanat, Fikir ve Sanatta Hareket, Dergâh, Yedi İklim. He wrote several articles on literature and history of mysticism in TDV İslâm Ansiklopedisi.
