Poet and writer (b.
1946, Kars). He graduated from Haydarpaşa High School. He could not complete
his higher education since he was arrested by an assertion that he had behaved
in contrary action to clauses 141, 146 and 246 of Penal Codes when he was a student
in School of Journalism
He worked in Vatan newspaper and in Güney Publishing for a while. He went
abroad after 12 September 1980. He was expatriated since he did not obey the
call for coming back to the homeland due to a lawsuit by council of ministers.
He came back to homeland in 1996. His poems and writings were published
in periodicals, Soyut, Gerçek, Halkın Dostları (1968-70)
and Militan (1975-76) and Güney, which he published with his
brother, Ataol Bahramoğlu.
He is one of the inheritors
of Turkish socialist poetry. He affected the poetry after him. Behram, who is
one of the recent writers who had been faced with political accusations, wrote
on nature, love, joy of life without leaving his opposing attitude and has
become one of the qualified contributors of Turkish poetry.
