Theater and film actress. (b. İzmir, on
September 5th, 1930 - d. 30 July 2021, Istanbul). After completing her primary and secondary
education in Izmir; she studied at singing and piano departments of the Ankara
State Conservatory.
Her first performance in theatre was the
play named Kadınlar
Terzihanesinde, staged at the Izmir City Theater (1948). When the
İzmir City Theaters were
closed in 1950; she moved to Istanbul and started to work at the Istanbul City
Theaters. Her first
performance in cinema was Yüzbaşı
Tahsin
(1950). She acted in three hundreds movies and dubbed many foreign movies.
Between 1959-60, she also guest-starred in plays in the Ankara State Theater
and then she moved to Istanbul again. She directed the plays En Büyük Kumar (1974), and then Bernarda Alba’nın
Evi. After retiring from the Istanbul
City Theaters in 1995; she joined “Tiyatro İstanbul”.
She
played leading roles in numerous theater dramas and took many awards in this
category. Güvenç was awarded with the title of State Artist in 1998 by the Ministry
of Culture. Other than those listed below, she has dubbed many films.
