Cemal Şener

Writer (b. 18 March 1951, Güllüce / Erzincan – d. 3 November 2010). He attended the Güllüce Village Primary School (1962), Erzincan High School (1969-70) and graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Letters, Department of Social Anthropology (1978). He did master in the same faculty (1982). His masters thesis was “Çerkez Ethem Olayı” (Occurrence of Çerkez Ethem). He left the faculty because of The Turkish Council of Higher Education when he did doctorate about “Aleviler Olayı” (Occurrence of the Alawite sect) (1983). For a while he did journalism (Yeni Ortam, 1972-74) and unionism (1975-78). He worked as official of research at İstanbul University, Faculty of Political Sciences (1982-84). Then worked as an independent writer, press consultant, directorship of publication (2000) and has continued his studies. He became famous with his research works that were made dense about Culture of the Alawite sect and History of Close Age. His writing works were published in Cumhuriyet daily and Cem review.
