Historian of literature (b. 1 August 1925, İstanbul - d. 3 July 2008, İstanbul). She attended Fatih Taş School (1936), İstanbul High School for Girls (1942) and graduated from İstanbul University, Faculty of Literature, Department of Turcology (1946). She became a doctor at the same faculty (1950). Her graduation thesis was “Anonim Tezkiretü'l-Evliya Tercümesi” (Translation of Anonymous Biographies of the Saints, 2 volumes). Her doctorate thesis was “Türkçe Mevlid Metinleri” (Turkish Nativity Texts, 2 volumes).

She worked as a teacher of literature at Cumhuriyet High School for Girls (1946-48), a translator at the Translation Bureau of the Encyclopedia of Islam (1948-50), a teacher at Saint Pulcherie High School (1950-56) and İstanbul İmam Hatip High School (1956-63) and as a lecturer at Marmara University, Faculty of Theology (formerly the Advanced Institute of Islam; 1963-81, assistant professor, 1981-89) and later became a professor after which she retired.

Her poem Söğütlüçeşme (Söğütlüçeşme), which was also her first literary work, was published in the school paper of İstanbul High School for Girls. Her first articles to be published were those she wrote for the Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı İstanbul Ansiklopedisi (Encyclopedia of İstanbul by the Ministry of National Education). Her other articles appeared in the reviews Türk Dili (1950), Türkiyat Mecmuası (1950-51), Türk Dili ve Edebiyatı (1951-63), Tohum (1963-64), İslâm Medeniyeti (1965-68), Oku (1968), İslâm Düşüncesi and Diyanet. She collected the Foundation for National Culture award in 1981 with İslâmî Türk Edebiyatı I (Islamic Turkish Literature I). She is a member of the Professional Association of Scientific and Literary Work Owners of Turkey and the International Fair for Aquaculture.
