Storywriter and journalist (b. 1949, Malatya). After
Attending Malatya High School, he graduated from İstanbul University, Faculty
of Law. He worked as a journalist and copywriter. After 1963, his stories were
published in the magazines Oluş
(Malatya), Yansıma, Yeni Dergi Türkiye
Defteri as well as in the newspapers Politika
and Sanat, of which he prepared the
art pages. He received the 1979 Turkish Language Institution Award for his work
Sevgi Ekmektir (Love is Bread). The
other awards he has received are: 1990 Ömer Seyfettin Story Award for his work Sinema Kuşu Sevgilim (My Film Lover
Sweetheart), 1993 the Abdi İpekçi Interview Award for his work Bir Taşralının İstanbul Nostaljisi (A
Countryman’s Nostalgia of İstanbul) and the 1999 Yunus Nadi Award for his work İyiler Genç Ölür (The Good Die Young).
