Poet and the
writer (b. 1929 İzmir - d. 24 May 2013, Ankara). After atttending İzmir Namık
Kemal High
School, he started to study in the İstanbul
University, Faculty of Medicine as a
military student and completed his medicine education in Ankara (1954). He left the army when he was a
Commander level and began the work in Ankara Educational
Hospital. He
worked as surgeon. Before 1980, he actively took a duty in the Turkish Language
Association. He served as a Director of Publications and Presentation
Department. His articles were continously published in Turk Dili review.
He accepted to be Head of the Turkish Authors Association.
His early poems were published in İstanbul Review (1944-46). In following
years, his poems and essays were published in Fikirler (also the meber of the Board) (1946-48) and Varlık, Yücel, Türk Dili reviews. He won the first award in the Yunus
Nadi Poetry Contest of the Cumhuriyet Newspaper (1952). In his play
called Ben Bir İnsan. He told his settling
accounts with Nazım Hikmet. This book, which was gifted to the poet, contained
snapshots from Nazım’s life.
