Poet and writer
(b. 1918, Ankara - d. 1995). His full name was Hikmet Tanyu Çivicioğlu. His
father was Officer Mehmet Nuri Bey who fought in the Turkish War of
Independence (1919-1922) and who was from the Çivicioğulları clan in Kayseri.
He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Language, History and
Geography, Department of Philosophy. He was arrested and put in prison for six
months in the court case “Racism-Turanism” on 3 May 1944. He had to stay in a
cell in Tophane Prison. He was acquitted by the Martial Law Court after six
months.
Prof. Dr. Hikmet Tanyu who served as
Dean of the Faculty of Theology and as President of the Chair of Religious
History had many articles published in Turkist and Turanist journals.
