Playwright (b.
Ankara, 1922). He graduated from Konya High School (1940). He began to work as
a journalist at the newspaper Vatan (1950-55).
He worked as a member of İstanbul City Council and the Permanent Committee
(1950-55), as a member of the Municipality Audit Council of the İstanbul
Electric Tramway and Tunnel Company (1955-60) and as a member of the executive
committee of the İstanbul Association of Journalists (1950-60).
He was imprisoned
for three years because of one of his articles in 1947. He wrote his prison
memoirs in the book Hapisliğim (My
Imprisonment). He portrayed the trial of the suspects of the “Aslanköy Event”
in the play İsyancılar (Rebels, 1964). He won the İlhan
İskender Award in 1968 with his play Utanç
Dünyası (The World of Shame), received the Yunus Emre Academic Service
Foundation Grand Art Award with his play Yunus
Emre in 1976 and the Turkish Language Committee Award in 1980. He is also a
poet and novelist.
