Playwright (b. 1870, İstanbul - d. 20
July, 1959). He was a graduate of the Exemplary Progress High School. With his
interest in shadow plays during his childhood and his translation of Ahmet
Vefik Paşa’s Moliere he developed his play writing. After working in the
Translation Office, he worked at the Museum of Religious Foundations and then until his death he worked at
the City Theater Library.
Although he used poor quality language
in his plays, which were also quite poor in terms of theatre technique, his
comedies were very popular because he chose domestic issues as themes, which
appealed to the working class. Mostly, he studied 18th century family life in
his works. Most of his works were performed in Armenian theatres (Mınakyan, Ferah,
Benliyan, Odeon, etc.), and in the city and state theatres he worked in.
