Poet and writer (B.
1877, Kayseri- D. November 20, 1944, Istanbul). He is the son of Süleyman
Ataullah Efendi, the sheikh of Kayseri Lodge of Mevlevi Dervishes. After he
finished primary and secondary schools, he took private lessons from Göncüzade
Nuh Naci Efendi and ratification from scholar Müridzade Ali Rıza Efendi. In
1982, he went to Istanbul, and worked as an assistant in Court for Account. He
attended to Yenikapı Lodge of Mevlevi Dervishes, he wrote poems in his teenage
years and he firstly published them in Hazine-i Fünun journal. One year later, he worked as the Persian,
religion and moral teacher in Kayseri High School. Later, he gave various lectures
in Konya, Kayseri, Kütahya Lodges of Mevlevi Dervishes. He became the
Vice Sheikh of Kütahya Lodge of Mevlevi Dervishes, and Sheikh of Kastamonu
Lodge of Mevlevi Dervishes. He went to Halep, Antep, Urfa, Kilis, Damascus,
Tripoli and Kudus for inspections. In 1913, he became the Sheikh of Halep Lodge
of Mevlevi Dervishes. During the First World War, he fought in Mevlevi
battalion “Mücahidin-i Mevleviye” in Palestinian front.
He stayed in Damascus for a few years and taught Mesnevi in
Emeviye Mosque. Then he went to Halep, after the invasion of Halep, he went to
Istanbul. In 1919, Ahmet Remzi Efendi was assigned as Postnişin to Usküdar Lodge of Mevlevi
Dervishes, later lodges were closed he became the manager in Üsküdar Selimağa Library. He stayed in this duty for ten
years and then he got retired with his own will in 1937. He was burried in
Seyyid Burhaneddin Shrine area.
Ahmet Remzi Efendi was strongly familiar with the Arab and
Persian Literature, he created works in every verse form of Divan Literature,
he wrote taştir and tahmis. He used syllabic
meter beside aruz prosody, he also wrote sagas and balads in syllabic meter.
He collected some of his
poems in a book titled Begüzar, rest of his works were not collected. He also
had different works other than literature field, Ahmet
Remzi Efendi wrote a book titled Kayseri Şairleri but he could not publish it.
Hüssein Vassaf, one of
the intellectuals of the era, wrote smart, cheerful and was an unique person
with a powerful mind about Ahmet Remzi Efendi in his
Biography titled “Remziname” he
wrote in 1924. Vassaf also informed us about Ahmet Remzi Efendi had a sense of humar and brought color
in to metings he attended also was keen on scince and poem and had a large
library.

EXPLANATION: Tuhfetü’s-Saimî (Sultan Veled’s explanation of
eulogium about fasting).
BIOGRAPHY: (Biographies of senior members of the sect and
sufism): Ayine-i Seyyid Sırdan, Mir’at-ı Zeynel Abidin, Tarihçe-i Aktâb.
TRANSLATION: Gülzâr-ı Aşk (about sufism, from
Persian), Reynumây-ı Marifet (about sufism, from Arabic).
