Novelist (b. 1903, İstanbul – d. 23 July 1972). She was the daughter of İsmail Derviş who was a professor of medicine. Her surname was Baraner. She was tutored privately. She studied for a while at Berlin Conservatory and at the Faculty of Law in Germany. She started her writing career with her prose poem titled Hezeyan that was published in newspaper in İstanbul. She was the first woman to edit a woman’s page in the newspaper İkdam (1926).

She wrote columns, articles and stories in German newspapers. When she returned to İstanbul (1932), her works were published in the newspapers Son Posta, Vatan, Cumhuriyet, Gece Postası and in 15 issues of Yeni Edebiyat, a daily art, literature and thought newspaper that she published (1940-41), Until her husband was arrested for his political activities, she lived in France for a long time (1953-63). She published her novels that had been published in foreign languages in France in Turkish when she returned to Turkey. She was one of the founder members of the Union of Revolutionary Women.
