Storywriter (b. 1941, İstanbul – d. 4 July 2003, İstanbul). She graduated from Arnavutköy American Girls’ (Robert) College (1961) and Istanbul University, Institute of Journalism (1963). She married Ülkü Tamer but divorced later. Turgut Uyar, whose surname she took, died while they were married.

At first, she was known for her translations. Her first short story was published in the review Türk Dili (1962). She published her later short stories, essays and critiques in reviews such as Papirüs, Yeni Dergi, Soyut and Yeni Edebiyat. She won the 1975 Turkish Language Association Translation Award with her collaborative work with Turgut Uyar, Evrenin Yapısı (On the Nature of Things) by Lucretius and the 1980 and 1987 Sait Faik Short Story Award with her short story books Yürekte Bukağı (Chained Heart, 1979) and Yaza Yolculuk (Journey to Summer, 1986). She shared the 1987 Haldun Taner Award with Murathan Mungan and Nedim Gürsel with her work Son Sınır (The Last Boundary). She won the Sedat Simavi Literature Award with Güzel Yazı Defteri (The Fine Writing Note Book) in 2002.
